This love thing: The Journey
This Love Thing: The Journey is a project through IMAN Arts Presents, with three parts: live concerts, restorative residencies, and a film documentary. The restorative residencies are centered around themes from the This Love Thing album led by critically acclaimed IMAN Roster Artists to restore and radically reimagine the world as a place of justice and peace inspired and sustained by love. The documentary-style film will feature This Love Thing: The Journey as the center of a larger story about a group of diverse American Muslim artists coming together with others from different faith traditions and backgrounds during a pandemic, uprisings, and unrest to cultivate healing through the intersections of art, organizing performance, and residencies. The film will follow the story of the artists as they come together and serve as an archiving of IMAN's legacy and impact over two decades, especially as a leading community-based arts presenter and convener, while also giving national and international exposure to the This Love Thing album and This Love Thing: The Journey.
